Winterstock

Well, well, well. That was pretty extraordinary. On Saturday the band played a 50th birthday party the like of which we've never seen before (and believe us when we say we've been to a few good parties). We were part of an evening which included the excellent Fleetwood Bac, a Johnny Cash tribute, the 60s Explosion, some of the cast of Hair and Eliza Doolittle (who, after schmoozing around in the posher parts of the party, played but a single song). Extraordinary.

The whole event was held inside heated yurts with full sound and lighting (there was a car inside as well but we won't go into that) as well as a pizza oven and the finest - seriously, the finest - hamburgers Mike, Jay and Rob have ever tasted. Hospitality was top-notch, organisation was friendly and efficient and - Al's unfortunate stool incident to one side - the band thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

It was also interesting because for once, we didn't write the set list and therefore played what our hosts actually wanted - rather than what we assumed they'd want. The results were surprising but made for an interesting and warmly received set.

So thanks to Maxine and Nick for inviting us and cheers to Atom for the organisation. We're unlikely to play another gig quite like that one. At least until next time.
